Do I need an electric toothbrush?
As the variety of tools available to improve your dental homecare continues to grow it can be difficult to decide which tools and products are best for you. As you are deciding consider the following:
All products should have the Canadian Dental Association Validated seal.
Personal preference- If you like using a specific toothbrush you may use it more regularly.
Technique - for any toothbrush the technique is as important as the device, your technique may be affected by your age, and dexterity. An electric toothbrush can be very helpful if dexterity is a concern.
Your unique oral health situation: managing orthodontic or dental appliances, gum disease, a high rate of cavities, or tooth sensitivity can all affect which toothbrush will work for best for you.
Brushing and flossing, a healthy diet, regular dental exams and cleanings, and taking the time to use good technique are key factors for good oral health. If you have questions about how a product or tool would work for you, your dentist or hygienist would be pleased to go over the options available.
